About Us

Energeia Ventures is a seed and early stage venture capital fund and technology company development firm focused on the emerging alternative energy sector.  Energeia’s founders formed Energeia to use their company building and operational skills to identify promising technologies and bring them to market in a capital efficient manner. The Energeia model generates excellent returns by working closely with entrepreneurs, investing early and being actively involved in building and growing companies.

With years of technology development, management, strategy, investing and transaction experience, the partners of Energeia take a hands-on, milestone driven approach to company building – from prototype development through customer/market validation to successful launch, partnership development, accelerated growth and eventual exit.  Our relationships across educational institutions, national labs, energy start-ups and the venture capital ecosystem provide us with access to the high quality entrepreneurs that are our primary source of deal flow.

Our investment strategy focuses on complementary component technologies that are integral to larger energy platform players and can be brought to market in 12-24 months. We target a $50M fund with limited partners having a strategic interest in the emerging energy sector. This fund size is small enough to be nimble at the seed/early stage, but large enough to maintain a suitable equity position in subsequent financing rounds allowing for attractive overall returns.  Typical deals are targeted at seed investments of $250-750,000 with follow-on investments totaling $1-5M per investment.

Presently we are in fund raising mode – a difficult process to say the least. But we are encouraged by the opportunities presented by the severe funding gap for seed/early stage cleantech companies. In the interim, the team continues to work with several early-stage cleantech companies on an advisory basis, forming the foundation of our deal flow. We are collaborating with other sources of capital, including angel groups, other VCs, prospective LPs and government agencies, on behalf of these companies. We welcome inquiries from individual entrepreneurs, start-up companies, university technology transfer offices, energy research labs, cleantech/energy companies, venture funds and potential investors.
